Overview
2010 marked the end of the Yorkshire Dales National Park’s first 10 year Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP). It was also a pivotal point for biodiversity activities in the Yorkshire Dales as the second LBAP was unveiled in autumn 2010.
2010 was also declared as the ‘International Year of Biodiversity’ by the United Nations. This raised the profile and significance of the biodiversity throughout the world and heightened the importance of this conference.
Brief
As the event organiser for the conference, Plug and Tap’s objectives included:
- Provide a full event management service for a one day conference and creation of publicity material for the event.
- The design of a booklet celebrating the first 10 years of biodiversity action in the Dales.
- Creating a platform at the conference to celebrate the achievements of the first 10 year LBAP 2000-2010.
- Creating a way to inspire organisations to engage in the next 10 years of biodiversity action as detailed in the 2010-2020 Local Biodiversity Action Plan.
- Organising a way for the delegates to engage both with each other and with the members of the Yorkshire Dales Biodiversity Forum to discover how the represented organisations could commit to the 2010-2020 Local Biodiversity Action Plan.
Project Delivery
Plug and Tap was invited to attend the Yorkshire Dales Biodiversity Forum meeting to discuss the aims and messages for the conference. These were then used to produce a framework for the day’s activities, a visual identity for the event and a range of communications literature. Plug and Tap designed the conference programme to encourage engagement and dialogue between the delegates representing the participating organisations. The programme included high profile, internationally renowned keynote speakers, participative workshop groups and a reverse panel questions and answers session. A market place and networking opportunities helped the delegated understand more about the represented organisations. Invitations were printed and mailed to the Yorkshire Dales Biodiversity Forum database. Plug and Tap provided a full event management service including the invitation and response process, workshop allocation, audio visual and venue matters and health and safety requirements.
